This testimony of his, which was part of an effort to make sure that he met the residency requirements to run for governor, nails Romney. It is in his own sworn words. The only question left is which time he lied.

"Mitt Romney's repeated claim that he played no part in executive decision-making related to Bain Capital after 1999 is false, according to Romney's own testimony in June 2002.....
"Romney noted that he regularly traveled back to Massachusetts. '[T]here were a number of social trips and business trips that brought me back to Massachusetts, board meetings, Thanksgiving and so forth,' he said....."
Maybe I missed it, but I don't think I heard anything about this today, and I cannot understand why the Obama surrogates did not use what I consider to be an exceedingly potent weapon that would end all debate on the subject, except, as noted above, to figure out which time he lied.

(4,340 posts)No need to use that weapon yet. The others are working just fine right now. Be patient.

(1,683 posts)This testimony leaves Romney with no defense, and effectively ends the debate. Why let a bunch of people get away with saying that these attacks are false, when this testimony would have instantly killed their arguments?

(4,340 posts)The media NEEDS time to fill. We mustn't leave them to their own devices. They might try to resurrect the guy and there's still a lot of time between now and November and American voters have a notoriously short memory.

What's the rush, dude? The election is in November. Save some for the coup de grace.

(1,683 posts)I still think that they could have totally demolished the Romney claims today had they pointed this out. If there are more bombs in the Obama arsenal to come Romney's way, I don't think using this argument today would affect that at all, except to make Romney much more vulnerable when those new bombs hit.
I just think it was something that was missed, but of course, I could easily be wrong.

Guess he didn't consider them "Baine entities" even though Baine was the only reason he was on these boards in the first place.
