New York City Central Labor Council and the New York State AFL-CIO call for mass rally on July 17

**UPDATE** UWUA Local 1-2, New York City Central Labor Council and the New York State AFL-CIO call for mass rally to support locked out workers on July 17th.

"At 2am on July 1st Con Ed chose to take the extreme action of locking out Local 1-2 UWUA New York Utility workers. A lock out means that Con Ed is refusing to allow workers to report to work and be available to respond to utility emergencies. This dangerous action will leave New Yorkers more vulnerable to brown outs and blackouts over the coming heat wave! Kevin Burke, CEO of Con Edison has cut off the healthcare benefits for all 8,500 workers and their families on July 3rd, at 5pm.

Please sign the pledge below and leave a comment of your support for the 8,500 workers that have now been forced into the street. We will contact you with more information on how you can stand with the workers of UWUA 1-2 in the coming days and weeks ahead."

Con Ed is entrusted to protect and service our New York Utilities. By taking this extreme and irresponsible action of locking out the utility workers that keep the lights on, Con Ed has broken that trust. I pledge to stand with the workers and demand Con Ed negotiate a fair contract now.http://nysaflcio.org/conedlockout/
