Is it wrong to wish Zika Virus on John McCain?

https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/zika-virus-selectively-infects-kills-glioblastoma-cells-mice

The Zika virus (ZIKV) may infect and kill a specific type of brain cancer cells while leaving normal adult brain tissue minimally affected, according to a new study supported by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a part of the National Institutes of Health. In the paper, published online on September 5 in The Journal of Experimental Medicine, researchers describe the impact of ZIKV on glioblastoma cells in both human tissue samples and mice.

the man is a hero, Vietnam
and as much as I disagree with him, he occasionally comes through

as in slamming the woman that called Obama a foreigner

not getting rid of Obamacare

There are much worse deplorables to wish that on

I disagree with him 99% of the time but the look on McTortoise's face when the AHCA bullshit went down in flames by McCain's one vote has redeemed him, at least temporarily.

'Wishing' a virus is not the same as prescribing a virus to help alleviate or cure a health issue.
You can see who reads the subject line and doesn't think about what it means.

If this could save lives or even prolong them with a good quality of life, it would be wonderful!

Unfortunately for Sen McCain, it sounds as though it was far too early for human trials.

What is so amazing is that it spares the good cells. In the brain, that is huge.
I'm hoping this fast tracks to clinical trials. The glio patients don't have a lot of time once they are diagnosed.

My sister died from it in 1993. Since she had contacts with neurologists because of her doctoral thesis (Computer Tomography of the Brain, published in the late 1980s) she received a lot of then experimental treatment. Her original prognosis was three months, she lived over eight months with all but the last having reasonable quality of life. In 1993 that was extraordinary since most patients died pretty close to the estimated prognosis.

the zika virus to treat that cancer. It is likely they will instead try to find which mechanisms that virus is using to target these cancer cells. If they can figure it out its a big breakthrough because you can then engineer that in cancer treatment drugs.

Zika virus used to treat aggressive brain cancer

You know how Zika causes microcephaly in developing brains?

Someone figured out that mechanism can go after brain cancer cells.

If you actually read the OP, you'd have known that.

If you have glioblastoma, what do you have to lose. They are running trials where they are using mumps virus to treat cancers so why not Zika.

This thread is unintentionally an example of how actual fake news worked to undermine our election system.

Even here at DU where the people come to discuss issues people end up doing little more than reading headlines and then letting loose a visceral negative reaction.

Read the fargin articles man! Or at least read a bit of the OP before responding.
