(14,565 posts)With so many neighbors to help I don't see how I can get out of here before Friday. The lady behind me had a stroke recently and three doors down the husband had recent back surgery and can't do anything physical. Plus my aunt has an old house with dozens of issues. Fortunately the neighbor next door to me is a gem and has been going the extra mile every day, doing more than I am. Tonight we were both exhausted while wrapping up at 8:30.
Thanks for the link.

(14,565 posts)Everybody pitches in to help.
However, I do have one neighbor who is on an extended fishing trip and refuses to return until late tomorrow night. It is driving his brother nuts. He doesn't live nearby but has had to do all the work so far. Lots of yelling at each other on the phone late today. Then I would receive the summary.
No big deal. The fisherman has odds hours like me and doesn't mind working through the night. I'm sure that's what he is relying on.

(14,565 posts)My decision was made easier tonight when my sister in Orlando insisted I stay at her house instead of riding it out here. I was in Las Vegas and didn't go through Andrew but she did. She described how scared she was while huddled in a bathroom and basically hoping the house wouldn't fall apart around them.

(26,620 posts)met two women from Houston. They loaded up the motorhome, hitched up the car and drove north 4 days before the storm hit. They know Houston.
