I expect Christians to not lie

Well, not suppose to, anyway.
Not blatantly.

While watching one of the TV court/judge shows there was a TV commercial for CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) News.
It showed riots in the street, buildings burning, some black guy attacking a door with an ax.

The CBN News commercial said:
"This is the world the left wants to bring you ..."

I grew up Methodist and if I told such lies,
my mother would slap me upside the head.

Just saying ...

insidiously developed a huge disconnect between their religious beliefs and behaviors and their political behavior.

We have a number of neighbors who would take us in in a moment, feed us, lend us their cars, money, whatever, even though we're not-so-ex- Californian Jew, nonbeliever, liberals. Those who once lived their religion still do--within the confines of their personal worlds. But we do not talk politics with most and delicately with a very few. We don't want to see the political facet of most if we are to remain friends. We're friends with their other side, the one that still dares to consider, "What would Jesus do?"

Providing the latter with an excuse for their unChrist like actions is only enabling them! A "Christian" in name only, wears a label...and that's all it is!

They drink the kool-aid with eyes wide open, and with no regrets! Let's not make excuses for them!

large numbers of those who wear their labels know nothing about the church's doctrine and live it less. They believe the labels they wear, though, twisting religion as needed to provide their own excuses.

That's not something we do for them. And indulging our own animosities by attacking the religion of others is absolutely the worst thing we could do if we want to win.

Not everyone here on DU has winning the next election as a top priority, though. Many are addicted to indulgence of hostility toward others and they need strife and division. Those are the people we need to call out.

Here in Texas, and I assume elsewhere, many businesses have jesus fish on their vehicles or in their logo's and signage to indicate they are a godly bidness. I tell anyone who listens that those companies should be avoided at all cost, they will screw you without thought or care. If you need to profess your christianity in your company signage, me thinks thou dost protest too much.

As I type, their nefarious minions are pretending to provide trained disaster child care workers. I have it on good authority that they're planning to go to Florida after Irma wreaks its havoc and do the same thing, the dastards!

Do you really believe that but for their Christian beliefs, these people would turn a cold shoulder to helping their fellow beings? If so, shame on them.

the ones who make sure everyone around them knows they're christian.

i've known plenty of people who don't talk about their religion, and you'd never know how serious they were about it unless they invited you into their home and you saw various markers of religion and serious commitment to it.

To borrow from the Bible, you're seeing the money changers in the temple. You know, the only people Jesus - the actual Jesus and not Republican Bigot Jesus - actually got pissed at during his life.

Over the years, I've sadly learned the hard way that I have to take what the self-proclaiming, over-the-top, in-your-face "Christians" say to me with an entire mountain range of salt. These people will lie and fuck people over without hesitation, and why not? All they have to do is show up in a building on Sunday for an hour, pretend to be sorry and it's all good.

I was raised Catholic. I don't go to church anymore and haven't for years, but I always thought that at its best, religion taught you to listen to your conscious. These MFers like the ones you're seeing on TeeVee instead have somehow learned to basically eliminate their conscious.
