ASPEN What do Aspen Mayor Mick Ireland, a Democrat, and presidential candidate Mitt Romney, a Republican, have in common?
Not much, except that A) they are both politicians and B) people want to look at their federal tax returns.
After Ireland and other Democratic leaders held a telephone news-conference call a week ago and provided prepared statements last week asking for Romney to release several years of tax returns, ABC News asked Ireland to do the same.
Ireland told The Aspen Times on Sunday that he didn't mind releasing the tax returns to ABC News, and he complied. He added that there's a big difference between asking Romney for his tax forms and asking the mayor of Aspen for the same thing.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it ABC News.

(13,669 posts)Romney has no valid reason to refuse to release the returns. There is something very wrong contained in what they would reveal to even his own supporters.
Some of the people behind him may see his refusal as a kind of 'iron-willed stand on principal' - but at this point I think he's looking more like a cornered animal.

Years ago was a show called "The Invaders". It was scifi's answer to the old "who do you think is behind it?" question.
But in this case it's Disney.

(12,233 posts)are on 2 different levels when it comes to financial disclosure... And anyone running for an elected seat or in an elected seat ought to be able to disclose their finances to the public.
Mitt has been "running" for President for a long time... His life has been in preparation for this as the "white horse" I think his Mormon church called it.... Perhaps he really does believe in magic underwear and that this is his time to be President as his church has "ordained" that he didn't think how he made his money or what type of business practices he engaged in mattered since he believes he's supposed to be President. It's probably the reason he has no problem lying to anyone about anything as well... Supposedly, non-Mormon are non-chosen, so lying and caring about anyone else outside his church and/ or economic status isn't relevant to him. They are just the stupid little people who don't count for anything.
Mitt is one sick piece of shit! He really is a sociopath or on that level. His eyes look like those of a serial killer. Truly evil. The man makes babies cry; that should tell everyone something about the energy this man gives off.

(13,081 posts)But the mainstream church does help out non-Mormons. Some friends of mine found themselves homeless in Provo, Utah, and the church came to their rescue. Romney is an asshole, and many Mormons are assholes, but not all Mormons are assholes. It is not okay in their strange strand of Christianity to lie/abuse/cheat non-members.
(There are quite a few progressive/liberal Mormons, too, though they have to keep it on the down-low. I went to a Kerry rally and met a couple of Mormon coworkers who begged me to keep their presence secret, lest the whack job Mormons found out.)
He is not really a mormon. Maybe his family forced him to go to church. You can lead the horse to the river, but you can't make him drink water. I know that because there are some mormons in my family. I'am not, but I know they don't behave like Mitt in any way.
