1. The Dentist I have been seeing for the last several years screens at every check-up.

The first time he did it, I asked what he was doing probing around under my tongue. He said he was checking for oral cancer. I thought it odd because I never noticed any other Dentist do the screening.

I was happy to see he does it.

About a year (or two?) ago the dentist found a spot on my tongue that sent me to a surgeon to get checked out. It turned out to be nothing but better safe than sorry.

Having decent insurance helps. The fact that dental coverage is so overlooked when talking about health care reform is a crying shame.

DUer Alien Girl died from cancer that began in the mouth/tongue (not sure if it was designated oral cancer. I think it was)
