Tribute: Hillary Clinton: The Woman in the Arena

Adapted from an excerpt of the speech "Citizenship in a Republic", given by Theodore Roosevelt at the Sorbonne in Paris, France 23 April 1910.

"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong woman stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the woman who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends herself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if she fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that her place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."

I get that she's done with political office--- but let's see Hillary freed to say and be what she will.

I still believe she's going to be on our money someday. She's a genuine modern-day pioneer. A giant of an historic figure. And all the shitty little gnats and piss-ants who tried to make her life a living hell will be long forgotten while her name and her memory and her legacy will continue to shine.

A latter-day Joan of Arc. And who remembers or even knows (or recorded) who it was, so busy persecuting her?

Tickets $25; all proceeds go to hurricane relief.

Back in the 70's, my husband and I used to go to see the Yankees play at Shea while the Stadium was being renovated. Met fans were less than thrilled.

Not unless SHE wants to. She may never be a candidate again but I think she'll stay involved and vocal in politics.

The NYTimes had an arrogant as hell article about how her book was coming out "too soon" and asking "what people think she should do now".



It doesn't matter when her book comes out. It doesn't matter what she does or how she does it or when she does it, she'll catch a planet full of SHIT for it. Because she's a woman. And women are damned if they do and damned if they don't. She should do whatever the hell she wants to do, how she wants to do it and when she wants to do it. ZERO fucks for what anybody ELSE thinks she "should do".

Who the hell do these arrogant people think they are?
