Safe and sound! Checking in from South Florida

We live in South West Broward county ( far from the beach but about halfway between Miami & Ft Lauderdale) and boy oh boy we're we lucky! We were in the cone of Irma until the trajectory changed and when it came near us it was only Cat 1 force winds. We suffered no real damage to our home and only lost power for just half a day. We lost a lot of trees in the neighborhood and most traffic lights are still out, but boy oh boy I will say again - we were very lucky here. My thoughts and prayers are with our brothers & sisters in the Keys that stayed to ride out the storm and those on our west coast who took a big hit, Marco Island (a beautiful resort town) got a Cat 3 yesterday afternoon. Tired and tired, but okay. 👍👍👍

She has electricity, and no real obvious damage to the house. I am beyond relieved!

Things were pretty much the same here. No structural damage just lots of tree branches and trees down. The power went off for 12 hours coming back on last night at 3:00 AM. Many streets here are blocked by debris and electricity is still off for many. I just finished clearing the front yard. Tomorrow I'll do the back...maybe.

No physical damage to my home (I live a mile from the St Johns River, which left its bank with rain water and storm surge).

Power outage only. Along with 250K other JEA customers. Likely to be out for a week. Thanks to great neighbors, we have a support network to take care of elderly and other high-risk friends.

Still, I can't wait to get me some of that good FEMA ice and Budweiser canned water (although I don't think I'll be able to tell the difference between that canned water and their Ultra-lite product line).

West Palm here. Lost power for 12 hrs but I'm thinking they may just have shut it off as a safety precaution. With no AC and metal shutters I opened a couple windows after it mostly went by and was able to sleep comfortably. Surprisingly so.

I am with you in being grateful. There was a time in Thursday that the storm track went within 1000' of my house. It was literally in the next block over. And it was forecast to be in the 140 range.

I was terrified of that scenario. And I am an engineer who has done wind design and assessments so it was not an idle worry.

So now I am without power and it is 86 degrees in my house and yet I am thankful

I left and am in Asheville with family and my old dog. Hubby and son stayed. No power, trees down all over the place but the house is intact.
