Hurricane Maria has strengthened to a Category 4 storm as it heads toward the Caribbean, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said late Monday afternoon. The agency said the storm is growing in strength as it approaches land, and the eye of the storm is expected to pass near Dominica Monday evening.
Meanwhile, a tropical storm warning was issued for parts of Massachusetts prior to the arrival of Hurricane Jose, which is expected to bring strong winds, heavy rains, and the threat of flooding.
