Even if we didnt have forces TEARING our party apart at the seams with purity tests and whatnot, even in the very best of circumstances, it would be damn hard.

I'm not sure Slavitt is right about this. I just googled all news stories with Lamar Alexander for the last twelve hours and I found nothing to confirm the Alexander/Murray negotiations have been kiboshed by McConnell or the leadership. To the contrary, Axios just moved a story reporting that Murray has made a key concession to Alexander in order to come together on a bill that would restore CSR's, exchange stability and premiums relief.
