It will be the way the GOP handles healthcare that will eventually change their supporters' minds.
Not the fact that the GOP are all in bed with Russia.
Not the fact that Russia helped the GOP cheat and flip election results.
Not the fact that tRump's only goal in being prezident was to steal as much as he could.
Not the fact that the GOP was complicit in letting tRump get away with countless impeachable offenses.
It will take people dying for them to figure it out (and even then some of them will be so nasty as to refuse to acknowledge how wrong they were).
This just goes to prove that it doesn't matter who is governing them. They are quite happy living in a plutocratic fascist dictatorship, so long as they are not actually dying because of it. In fact, it's wonderful that they are now free to be as racist and angry as they have always wanted to be.

(19,460 posts)They don't and never will. That is the objective. If enough poor people die off and enough seniors die off and the disabled die off then what you have left is just the worker bees (slave labor class) doing all the work (what's left of it) and the wealthy who get to run the world.

(17,984 posts)The ones who vote republican and damn everyone else. When they realize the GOP doesn't give a rat's ass about them dying, then they will start to see the truth (some anyway). And not that healthcare isn't important, but I don't see it as sensational and mind blowing as the fact that we are under Russian control. That's my real point: as long as it doesn't affect them personally and immediately, they are happy as punch to live under whatever government takes control.

(14,565 posts)I've seen that claim frequently here and I have no idea where it comes from. My aunt is a retired life long nurse and was very upset when McCain cast that vote. She is pro Trump and therefore all in for anything he wants. One family member will lose coverage if the Affordable Care Act is repealed. My aunt doesn't care about that at all, not in comparison.
That is going to attach up and down the line. If people were stupid and stubborn enough to vote for Trump/Republicans in the first place they aren't going to use their own health care changes as rationale to detour. Heck, they've already proven they prefer fake news and lies over Democrats. Trump will offer countless additional lies and fake news, while championing the Graham bill as great legislation.

(17,984 posts)tRumpers coming out to fuss at their congress people for taking their healthcare away. I did put that qualifier in there about some of them going to their graves defending the GOP; however, I think that once they start getting really sick they are going to start questioning if they were better off before.
