Kris Kobach's "voter fraud" circus goes off the rails

At its first meeting, Trump’s “election integrity” commission reveals its ugly, hyper-partisan inner self

When Dr. John Lott Jr. came before the Kobach-Pence “election integrity” commission last week and called for background checks for voters – the same kind that gun owners must undergo before purchasing a weapon – even the clowns had to realize that the circus had run off the road.

After all, there are more than 30,000 gun deaths annually in America. Between 2000 and 2014, however, every comprehensive study – whether by courts, academics or journalists -- have found only a handful of cases of voter impersonation. Lott, however, told the commission that his proposal would allow Democrats to “go and prove, essentially, to Republicans, that there’s no fraud.”

There can no longer be any reasonable doubt that it is the fraudulence of this commission, rather than unverified claims of voter fraud, that is the greater threat to our democracy.
Last Tuesday’s second meeting of Trump’s Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, headed by Kansas Secretary of State and newly minted Breitbart columnist Kris Kobach, began under clouds of controversy that only grew darker as the day progressed.

It opened with accusations of impropriety from commissioners aimed at the commission itself. It was spattered throughout with conflicting assessments of how election data can, and can’t, be used to determine voter fraud. Then the day ended with the revelation that one of the commissioners, the Heritage Foundation’s Hans von Spakovsky, had urged the commission to exclude Democrats, “mainstream Republicans and/or academics” from the commission. (Yet they welcomed Lott, whose work has been repeatedly debunked by academics and who created a phony online persona to praise and defend his work.)

only from this Commission, but hacking, media propaganda, gerrymandering, and cheating by Republican candidates. Dark money, Super Packs, and the Revolving Door also take their toll.

What do we do?

7. we need to use the public records just like Rs do and look for pockets of fraud votes.

There are public lists of registered voters, lists of who voted in primaries and the general election. Those lists need to be run through decent computer programs to search for anomalies.

For example a block of GE votes, mailed in where the entire block didn't vote in the primary or even have never voted before in any election. Look for odd addresses, group votes from huge nursing homes, medical facilities, military?. Many of these districts swung by a couple hundred or thousand. Some cities swung because the vote for president was left blank, counted as blank.

12. I know Rs use cross check & mess up registrations. They did it after 'primary' with my registration.

another person I know had the address changed on his registration to a family members address in another county. He didn't vote in primary and wasn't allowed to vote in GE, not even provisionally. He did not change his registration. IMO someone, several someones did mess with the public lists of registrations to make voting harder on people. Anyone can fill out/change registration forms and send it in. 'a box can be checked' on some forms in some states. IMO-this was done by someone(S)

What I meant is outright fraud with actual GE votes. Changing ballots, scribbling in ballots write-in area so presidents vote doesn't count, mailing in fraud vote, registering people and voting for them by mail, hacking, malware, fucked up scantron machines, not counting a couple hundred/thousand votes to flip a districts final count.

The new, at the time,Texas Voter I.D. law required that everything match so she knew she had to do this. She voted in two elections after that with no problem. When they mailed her new voter registration prior to another election she checked it and found they had changed her name back to her married name. She caught it early enough to have it corrected, again, but there is no way this could have been a mistake.

Always check everything leading up to an election!!!

That person who never could vote in GE, last week they got a jury summons for the incorrect address county that was on their 'changed' voter registration.

I think they had arranged this years ago, and tRump fussing about 3 million illegal votes was the excuse to begin the large scale voter suppression.

11. The silence from elections officials including secretaries of state, county clerks is DEAFENING

Where is the outrage from members of NASS?

Where is the outrage from members of the National Association of Elections Officials, etc. etc.

Where is the reportage on where elections officials stand with the corruption of voter rolls, hacking of computerized voting and tabulating?

None of what elections officials are doing with elections meets the standards of the mission statements and constitutions of these organizations.

The only way that elections officials can abide by their mission statements is to hold elections with hand counted paper ballots at the precinct level with public oversight and undo the purges by contractors such as Crosscheck, voter ID laws, etc.
