is to cut government by cutting taxes. Libertarian and Republicans have long wanted less Federal government and put more back on the State level government. Cutting taxes and defunding agencies is an effective way to do just that.

My 2 cents.

are in life and what a HUGE role a properly functioning federal government plays in it.

Rightwing, racist states cant be trusted to handle the simplest of things like healthcare, environment, etc.

Oh wait, turns out they are NOT simple after all.

... the whole "starve the beast" strategy, it's also important to note that cutting taxes is also an end unto itself for them. For a lot of them, they aren't cutting taxes to stimulate the economy, or starve the government of funding, they aren't cutting taxes with any vision of what will happen in the future, they're cutting taxes because they want to pay lower taxes.

if the original budget allocates $4 trillion for a tax cut, then i think all the reconciliation bill needs to do under reconciliation rules is to not cost more than $4 trillion.

of course, getting the original budget passed in the first place with such a big gaping hole is a problem in and of itself, though the politics of passing budget bills is different from the politics of passing an isolated tax cut bill.

Deaths from a lack of affordable healthcare. The continuation of the crumbling infrastructure. Continuing to ignore our education system. SS with increases not attached to the real cost of living.

Government math goes like this and it helps Republicans. If the same exact dollar amount is spent on an agency or program from one year to the next then it's a spending cut.
