so it is probably better he won over Strange. Dem, Doug Jones seems like a intelligent, reasonable person & due to Moore win, possibly Jones could beat him..

(36,299 posts)A person who is a threat to our nation and to the world. Some people may want to be a modern day Chamberlain but I'm not.
If any Trump voter decides on their own they made a bad mistake and comes over to our side, I'll welcome them with open arms but I'm not going to make any effort to convince them.
Remember, the people who voted for Trump make up a small percentage of eligible voters.

(11,122 posts)as a low shot at Alabama. I think we need to be realistic about the image that state's project. Hey. I live in Texas. I only wish my state would do things to counter the prevailing image of the state.
Sure, just like Alabama, there are pockets of enlightenment and humanity. But, just like Alabama, the populace keeps foisting ignorant and nasty congress critters on the rest of the country and keeps putting cretins and charlatans into positions of power.
Were Alabama to toss moore to the curb and put in their very qualified Democrat, it would go a long way towards pushing back on its reputation.
Hell. Texas elects people like dan patrick (or whatever his real name is) greg abbot, ted fucking cruz, and walking wooden asshole john cornyn. True we had Ann Richards, Molly Ivins, and barbara jordan. But it hasn't gone well since it gave the nation w. bush. We have a lot to make up for.

Alabama ought to lose their statehood just for nominating this piece of shit for the US Senate.
Any damn southern DUer who tries to tell me how the North is just as fucked up better look long and hard to find anything north of the Mason Dixon line that comes fucking within 1,000,000 miles of someone as batshit nuts and evil as this fucktwit

(15,330 posts)Palin holds no political office, and though truly batshit nuts and evil, she's not in Moore's league.
King is relatively close, but still not to the level of dumbfucKKKery of Moore.
King also is not a statewide office holder. You could run Ham Sandwich (R-iA) and it would win his district.
Keep trying. Unless you can find Satan or the Grand wizard of the KKK elected to a statewide seat, you're not even close...in fact, Moore would give Satan a run for his money

(16,104 posts)and see this same message regarding each and every Blue State in the USA!
"If they were just smarter, they'd vote like me."
Only 14% of Alabama voters turned out for this election, and it was a semi-restricted Republican runoff.
In this case, you might be right?

(2,807 posts)Oh he will start out behind in the polls, then magically two weeks before the election the race will 'tighten'.
And then when Alabamans actually go in and vote he will win by 8-10 %.

But once he's in the Senate, he won't change or become subdued. He'll be a constant outrage, and he'll be the face of the GOP.

(4,898 posts)Granted, its an outside chance given the state of politics in Alabama. Democrats and the DNC need to fight for this one, even if the seat is in a deep red state. They've won Senate seats in ND and WV, why not Alabama?
If the Dems put in the resources and Jones wins, they will have done something to make tRump's and McTurtle's ability to enact their Reich Wing agenda much harder.

from an earlier version of this article

Here's some more:
"On the outskirts of Montgomery, 76-year-old Air Force retiree John Lauer said Trump's endorsement swayed him to vote for Strange on Tuesday.
"I voted for Strange. I'm a Trump voter. Either one is going to basically do the Trump agenda, but since Trump came out for Luther, I voted for Luther," said Lauer said.
Many at Moore's victory party had supported the former chief justice through the years in his stands over the Ten Commandments and other issues.
"I'm so happy. I prayed and God answered my prayers," Patricia Riley Jones of Abbeville said as she outstretched her arms to hold a Moore sign and America flags high aloft above her head. "He's a great Christian man. He stood up for God."

My prediction: AL will reject Roy Moore and begin moving a little to the left, gradually, as the ol' timers who think they fought in the Civil War finally die off.

Alabama is tied with Mississippi for the most religious state, according to Pew Research, with 77 percent of adults identified as highly religious. Almost nine in 10 Alabama adults are Christian.

(11,481 posts)Paint him as someone who will attempt to outlaw other forms of Christianity than his view. What is he anyway? Baptist? If he is, make the claim that he will try to outlaw other Christian religions in favor of Baptists.
It doesn't matter if it can be proven or not, just make the accusation. There are a TON of Catholics in Alabama especially down on the coast. Not to mention the Pentacostals, Church of Christer, Methodists, etc. Restart the 100 Years' War in Alabama. That's what it would boil down to anyway if the Evangelicals got control of political power.
