Chris Matthews has been talking for much of his show tonight about how the republican party.....

....has been moving further right, citing for example the primary win by Roy Moore.

It just struck me, since some Democrats and many "progressives" have been urging the Democratic Party to move further left, it's happening all without disturbing our Party mix of moderates, left, and the far left. By staying were we are we're still moving "further left" of the republicans.

Bazinga - mission accomplished!

Maybe he doesn't get that you want to watch the show to hear what the guests have to say.

He turns you off so you turn to CNN.

Republican's massive shift towards nationalism and fascism. Look at our past history, today's Dems aren't nearly as leftward bound as some of our remarkable past presidents. Look at FDR and the New Deal, we have nothing like it, and Truman gave us the UN and NATO. LBJ created the Great Society and signed the Civil Rights Act, today, we're barely holding on. We have a long way to go to regain the kind of progressive thinking that was once the hallmark of Democrats.

Dems for the most part appear to be moving left only because society at large is.

It was no deal for many Americans. FDR did not integrate the Armed Forces, Truman did, FDR did not fight to get Black GIs and women service members into the GI Bill, they were purposely excluded. Yes southern Senators wrote those bills, but a true progressive President never would have signed them.

Lyndon Johnson, Truman, Kennedy, Carter were far more "progressive" than FDR.

Sorry to burst your bubble.
