(3,208 posts)My mother-in-law had a Pinto station wagon. One day, upon returning home from shopping, as she was getting out of the car, she saw light from flames. She went in to tell her husband the car was on fire. He came out and pushed the car out into the street so it would not burn their garage or other cars as they waited for the fire department. My husband, who was out there by then said people just drove past, very close, like it was no big deal that this car was on fire and could get worse if the flames reached the gas tank.
That seems to be what a lot of Americans are doing right now.

and for several years after that.

Father in law gave it to mr pete & i during our college years...
grandpa pete borrowed it one weekend and totaled it
