But wait, there's more: Pahrump NV was on lockdown today due to "a man with a gun"

I lived in Pahrump for two years. Loved it, even though my sister refers to it as a "God-forsaken hell hole." And while you can leave Pahrump, Pahrump never leaves you. I struggled to make a living there and ultimately headed for greener pastures, but the memories...boy, are there memories. I've shared many of them here.

This morning Nye County Sheriff's Office Deputies observed Duane Johnson a wanted felon with a violent past at Manse Elementary. When Deputies attempted to apprehend him he ran into the school. The school was placed on lockdown while Deputies searched for him. During that search the Nye County Sheriff's Office received a report that there was a man with a gun at Floyd Elementary.
NCSO staff responded and cleared the school and that report was deemed false.
During those two searches the Nye County Sheriff's Office received a report of a man with a gun at Rosemary Clarke Middle School. NCSO staff responded and cleared the school and that report was deemed false.
NCSO staff responded and cleared all Pahrump schools as a precaution and has staff stationed at each school until students are released as a precaution.
The Sheriff's Office was joined on all these scenes by personnel from Nevada Highway Patrol, Nevada Dept of Parole and Probation, Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue and Nye County District Attorney's Office. The Sheriff's Office worked in conjunction with School District staff throughout the incident. The Emergency Operations Center was activated and operrated by Nye County Emergency Management and Nye County Manager and staff.
