An Open Letter to Alleged Christians
Did you ever consider that if it’s your God who’s sending hurricanes and floods and prompting mass murders, he’s doing so because he’s really pissed-off at people like you? Maybe your God is fed-up with the arrogance of those who claim to know his will, or pretend to have some special insight into his motives.
People like you love to go on about how your God causes natural disasters in order to “test people”. If that’s the case, maybe your God was testing the faith of the people of Houston who hold themselves out as his spokesmen. It wasn’t the congregants of Christian churches who locked the doors to those seeking shelter – those congregants were out searching for survivors, while the clergy of those churches refused shelter to those in need.
Maybe your God was testing the commitment of people like Joel Osteen, who use religion to enrich themselves. Not only did this “good Christian” refuse to help those in need, he then lied about why he didn't do so. Maybe your God was determined to expose him, and those like him, as the money-grubbing con-artists they are.
If your God is indeed trying to punish America, perhaps it’s because he is extremely pissed-off that so many millions of people voted to elect a lying, self-serving, narcissistic racist to lead the most powerful nation on earth. Maybe your God is furious that a political party determined to crush the poor and reward the greedy was put in a position of power. Maybe your God is sick and tired of politicians who claim to be his followers while trying to take healthcare away from the sick, while shunning the homeless, while pursuing legislation that lines their own pockets at the expense of their hard-working fellow citizens.
If your God is as prone to lashing out in anger as you and your ilk claim he is, you’ve got to admit that he’s got a lot to be angry about when it comes to your hypocrisy, your lack of empathy, your determination to ignore those who Christ himself admonished you to care for.
Maybe it isn’t the gays and lesbians your God is pissed about – maybe it’s the people who vilify them. Maybe it isn’t the atheists who your God has a problem with, but those who claim to be “Christians” while ignoring Christian ideals and deliberately act contrary to Christian principles. Maybe it isn’t the pro-choicers your God is upset about, but those who claim to be pro-life at the same time they ignore the plight of children born into poverty.
I don’t believe in your God – this God who unleashes mass murderers on the populace to “send a message” by killing the innocent, while those guilty of supporting laws that place weapons into the hands of mass murderers are held as blameless.
If you honestly believe that your God acts out when he’s pissed-off, you might want to think about exactly who he’s really pissed at – because it’s probably hypocrites like you.

Someone alerted on your post. The truth hurts to some who must view themselves as 'alleged' Christians.
That's one way to look at it.
I finally decided to be a nominal polytheist. There's Jesus, a sweet Jewish boy and a Boddhisatva -- his character is pretty much there in the parables and the Beatitudes.
And then there are the aforementioned gods of Joel Osteen (shallow, greedy, selfish) and Pat Robertson (petty, vengeful, nasty). I'm tired of being understanding and saying we merely disagree on the interpretation of Scripture. The hell with that, rather literally. They have described their gods over and over and over. And they are not mine.
Also being a polytheist allows me to say that my Goddess gave birth to your God. 
She loves all Her children, it is true, but most of what happens in the world is either the processes of Nature working themselves out, or the natural consequences of human behavior which we have to be responsible enough to own.
