Hopper was a pretty depressed sort of man, I think. As reflected in his paintings. I love Hopper paintings, though. And I loved Petty. Did you ever notice that he smiled a lot? A lot of rockers don't smile a lot, but he did. I liked that.

I view Mellencamp as the Tom Petty of the Heartland, just as Tom was the Springsteen of the South, Bruce was the Petty of the Jersey Area, Billy Joel was the Mellencamp of NYC, etc. etc....
