House passes 20-week abortion ban

The House passed a bill Tuesday that would ban abortions after 20 weeks.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), would make it a crime to perform or attempt an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of a fine, up to five years in prison, or both.

The measure passed heavily along party lines, 237-189.

The bill allows exceptions in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the woman and wouldn't penalize women for seeking to get abortions after 20 weeks.

The legislation is likely to face a tough sell in the Senate. A similar bill passed the House in 2015 but was blocked by Senate Democrats.

Murphy , who wanted his girlfriend to get an abortion was originally a co-sponsor and they removed his name. https://upload.democraticunderground.com/10029668813

If signed into law all women who are pre menopausal are subject to prison by gop men who know better than you do about your own bodies.

Mad yet?

So there is an agenda in this country to make certain the Democratic party fail, and it is not just Republicans who want that.

The bill says NOTHING about premenopausal women, and there are millions of premenopausal women who have never had, and nor will ever want to have, an abortion, so no - women are not subject to prison merely because they are premenopausal.

In addition, this is a house bill. You've been all over many threads telling women (or their male keepers) that they will be criminals in days. The bill would require 60 votes in the senate before it can be presented to Trump for signature. They can't even get 50 votes to repeal the ACA - they need 10 more than that for this bill to become law. If it does - it is not going to become law in a "few days" as one of your many other posts suggested.

Yes - we need to be attentive and work to ensure this bill doesn't become law. But describing it hyperbolically is not helpful. To be an effective lobbyist, you need to be able to accurately describe the proposed legislation and detail clearly why it should not be passed. The hyperbole in your posts works against that.
