Carl Bernstein: GOP Congress has lost confidence in Trumps fitness for office

Watergate legend Carl Bernstein reveals GOP Congress has ‘lost confidence’ in Trump’s fitness for office

“What there is a sense of, people I talk to in the White House and Republicans on Capitol Hill, is that the wheels are coming off this presidency”

“In the White House, there is an attempt by those closest to the President — especially [Chief of Staff John] Kelly, especially the military leaders — to try to constrain the President from his own inclinations to say wild things, to act irresponsibly.

He’s constantly complaining, going into rages about the investigation, about disloyalty among his aides

Republican members of congress and military leaders and the intelligence community, “many of them have lost confidence in this president.
They doubt his fitness to be president, they doubt his competence, they’re worried that he has to be restrained and constrained by these military leaders,” Bernstein explained.

Bernstein was also alarmed by the degree of control the military holds over the weak president.
“Remember, George Washington resigned his commission so we could have civilian control of the military, and now we have military control of the presidency,” Bernstein suggested.

They have the electronic voting machines rigged so they win just about every stinking time. They are not going anywhere so they don't have to do anything. The only way they will act is if he takes something away from them.

Using every RW media outlet to do it. Faux News along with Breitbart, Drudge , Alex Jones etc and every daytime radio hate shock Jock. They will push it to the limit. Because they know that any other establishment Republican, including Pence, would not be near as popular with their base of deplorables.

at the moment, but this is the antithesis of democratic governance. We should not be depending on the military to save us from chaos. The serious people in the military understand this in their bones.

My son n law is a Lt Colonel for Air Force so I hear military stuff for many years. He worked at Pentagon for 3 years with a lot of the top brass.

I think its more likely they will have to stop Trump from wanting to start a war just to cover up the Russia investigation.

up to the military to prevent the President from using his war powers for political reasons.

Did you never listen to him when he held a rally?

Did you even WATCH the debates?

Have you never watched ANY of his "news conferences?"

Have you never seen any of his public appearances?

The GOP knew, too. They just can no longer keep lying to their spouses and kids. The wives are going, "You need to cut yourself loose from this shit show if we're going to get re-elected."

May they all get sucked down and sent packing back to their racist hamlets and high-rises.

wonder if Congress did the right thing and invoke the 25th, the repigs would redeem themselves with that one great act, but we know they for themselves and not the American people.

Also it's his freaking base they are worried about, that 34% (is that the correct percentage?) too bad for them, again there are more of us than them.

They've got enough chaos going on to distract from their worst legislation and undoing of regulations. They've got people in the cabinet who want nothing more than to totally undo government from the inside (a repub dream), and drumptf is turning people off in the idea that gov't can be functional.

So they may make a few noises, and be slightly annoyed, but for them it's a win-win. Oh and I forgot to add putting their racist addenda front and center. win-win-win!
