CNN's Bernstein: 'The wheels are coming off the presidency'

CNN's Bernstein: 'The wheels are coming off the presidency'
BY JOE CONCHA - 10/06/17 11:13 AM EDT

CNN’s Carl Bernstein declared Friday that “the wheels are coming off the presidency” and called the current state of affairs at the White House “unlike anything I have seen in 50 years in Washington.”

He added that those closest to the president, including White House chief of staff John Kelly and leaders of the military, are trying to “constrain the president from his own inclinations to say wild things, to act irresponsibly.”

Bernstein contended later in the interview that the military is now in control of the presidency.

“George Washington resigned his commission so we could have civilian control of the military, and now we have military control of the presidency,” he told anchors Chris Cuomo and Poppy Harlow.

The guy standing behind the chair is the guy in control, and he can't wait for his job to be over. It's Mueller time.

I've sensed the Generals were running the show from behind the scenes for a while now, and thank God! Let the nut run loose we'd be bombing N Korea,Afghanistan, Iraq, and any other country the Con got pissed at. I just HOPE he doesn't realize this and fire them all!

every sane person who loves this country needs to get the GOP on live tape saying the the fake prez is completely crazy. After he said that for about a week that actually did start to happen but then everyone backed off for some reason. When news journalists tried to hold some liberals in congress accountable they suddenly went wishy washy and refused to comment. I think it is because they didn't want it to eventually become a Dem vs Repub issue.

"George Washington resigned his commission so we could have civilian control of the military, and now we have military control of the presidency" Bullshit. Mattis is retired. He's a civilian and he's in control of the military. And I trust him far more than anybody else in trump's government.

From August:

"There's considerable evidence that there's a consensus developing in the military, at the highest levels, in the intelligence community, among Republicans in Congress, including the leaders in the business community that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, is unfit to be the president of the United States," Bernstein told CNN's Anderson Cooper.
