Gainesville, Florida - Homeless Woman Fights Off Attacker With A Gun

What I don't understand is why the NRA is so aggressive about protecting the right of people to carry high powered weapons that are designed to wage war, but they are silent about case of Philando Castle, an African American motorist, who was killed after he told the police officer that he had a fire arm in his car.

Likewise, what about homeless individuals like the woman in the story below. They have no home. They are vulnerable. If anything, they the ones who the NRA should be fighting for. With the growing number of homeless being victimized without adequate police protection, it is a wonder why the NRA is also silent with respect to their rights to own fire arms for self-defense.

A man who police and witnesses say had been attacking a woman died Thursday night after police say the woman shot him in self-defense.

A man who police and witnesses say had been attacking a woman died Thursday night after police say the woman shot him in self-defense.

Around 7 p.m., a 9-1-1- dispatcher heard what sounded like an argument and then a woman yelling, ″Get off of me,″ according to a Gainesville Police report.

The line then disconnected and when the dispatcher called back, a woman answered and said she had just shot someone.
Officers went to a homeless camp near Sweetwater Branch near the intersection of Southeast 16th Avenue and Williston Road and found a woman covered in blood waiting for them.

1. I think they do

No NRA expert and not a member but I'm pretty sure the NRA fights for every Americans right to defend their life with a firearm, as long as you can legally own a gun. Rich, poor, any color, anywhere, homeless or not. I'm not defending the NRA but that's how it is. You don't have to be a member and they still fight for your right to defend life with a gun.

Why do you think they don't care about homeless folks?

2. CNN - Activists accuse NRA of racism for silence over Philando Castile

The NRA was famously silent over the killing of Philando Castile even though Castile tried to do the right thing by telling that officer that he had a gun in the car and his companion also telling the officer that Castile was a registered gun owner.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/30/politics/nra-philando-castile/index.html

Washington (CNN)Amid outrage over the acquittal of the officer who shot and killed Philando Castile, many activists and some gun owners seem to agree on one thing: The National Rifle Association should not remain silent.

In a Wednesday letter addressed to NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre, activist Tamika Mallory -- one of the founders of the progressive Women's March -- slammed the NRA for demonstrating "a complete disregard for the lives of black and brown people in America" for failing to "make any statement defending the civil rights of Mr. Castile."

The letter also slammed an April anti-protester, pro-police NRA ad featuring conservative commentator Dana Loesch, which Mallory characterized as a "vicious and incendiary video calling for armed conflict."

An NRA spokeswoman confirmed to CNN that the NRA has received the letter, but a request for comment was not returned.

And it's a pathetic commentary on America that someone with no home scrounging for daily survival has no problem getting a sidearm+ammo....

9. So you think homeless people have no right to a firearm for self defense?

ok then

Do you tell EBT card holders they shouldn't buy steak? Do you tell people on welfare they shouldn't have a decent car. Do you tell poor people they shouldn't have cable tv or internet because they are poor.

Go swing your purse at someone else.

8. NRA is an inherently racist organization, though. I base this on observation. Whatever their origins

...they have devolved into a gun-manufacturer's lobby, and currently exist to make white people paranoid and to make a pile of money off that paranoia. Again, observation.

If the NRA makes a statement they are vilified by activist
If the NRA doesn't make a statement they are vilified by activist

There's more to the Castile shooting than a simple execution. A POC police officer killed a POC motorist. The POC officer was new, not very well trained, and scared. The POC motorist reached for something, probably his wallet. POC officer freaked and opened fire. I don't believe POC officer walked up to the car with the intent to kill, as activist claim. It was a big f**k up, and more than likely why the NRA didn't touch it.

Their lack of a statement doesn't mean they don't fight for the right of self defense for homeless people. Which is what your post is about. There's plenty of reasons to criticize the NRA, but this isn't one of them.

7. The NRA's failure to speak against

the shooting of Philandro Castile was noticeable and hypocritical. They were even called out on it by their POC spokesman.

OTH you will note the lack of comment from other sources on a domestic violence victim defending herself. As this event goes against The Narrative™ it will receive equal silence.
