How odd that Glenn Greenwald doesn't mention Ron Paul's homophobia.

Why is that, I wonder, given his situation. Does he believe that Ron Paul will facilitate his return to the US with his partner? I can't imagine that happening, given Paul's statements on homosexuality. Or does he believe that President Obama will not help, either. I cannot understand that, given the support Obama has given to LGBT rights. If he gets a Democratic Congress, DOMA is dead. DADT is already gone.

I guess I don't quite understand this very well.

I'm not really sure what his politics really are, but they seem to trend towards the libertarian. That might explain his current infatuation with Ron Paul, I suppose. I'm sure he'll soon recognize his folly though, and redirect his attentions elsewhere.

One thing that is certain, though: He will continue to malign President Obama. I've seen no flagging in his efforts in that regard. It is a constant.

This mix of "liberalism" and "libertarianism" is why I can longer consider myself a "liberal". I'm just a lifelong Democrat now, who supports the Democratic Party, and "Democrats".

what someone as far left as GG wants.

GG would lose in a landslide, and if he were ever President his views would be totally rejected by Congress and the American people, he wouldn't get anything passed.

Same for most of what Ron Paul believes.

There's a difference between your own beliefs and whats possible politically. People like GG do not understand that difference.

My point is GG wants Obama to do what he wants and that is not possible politically.

Id like Obama to legalize drugs, but I knwo thats not possible politically and if he tried to do that he'd destroy his Presidency and any chance of being reelected.

The reason for that is that his partner cannot immigrate to the US, due to the current laws that don't recognize same-sex marriage for immigration purposes. He has a very valid complaint in that regard. To change that, Congress will have to pass a law, which it seems quite unwilling to do. It's another one of those issues that requires action by a Congress that is blocking any progressive legislation.
