I just heard that we lost my brother this afternoon.
He had been very ill and was in the liver transplant program at UCLA Medical Center, but his condition simply was not good enough to survive until that could happen. I'll be flying out to California sometime this week for his memorial service and to provide whatever comfort I can to the rest of the family.
It's very hard to lose your younger brother. He was only 67 years old. It is a sad, sad time for everyone who knew him, and especially for my sister and I. My parents, who are 92 and 93 years old, are heartbroken.

Your parents must be besides themselves. 
That was just too young and I know you must all be heartbroken. Please accept my condolences. 
Take care of your parents - I know from experience how losing a child takes a toll on parents.
I lost my brother to a sudden stroke and heart attack when he was only 68. I had to break it to my mother who was then in a nursing home. I flew to Dallas and made all the funeral arrangements but then had to tell my mother that her son had died. It damn near finished me off to do it, but I helped her through the ordeal and the burial. What a sad, sad time.

It is so hard to lose a sibling or a child.
I also lost my younger brother to liver disease earlier this year.

You have an open wound. Allow yourself time to heal. I lost hubby in May. Talking to him helps and that's when I feel him around me.

We recently had a loss in my family. An uncle of mine. He was around the same age.
Our siblings are the people with whom we are likely to have the longest relationships in our lives.
Despite fighting like hell when we were kids (oh, c'mon - we all did!), we develop a bond over time that is like no other.
My sister is my best friend. But don't tell her.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's a good time to gather around with family & friends and reminisce the good tmes with your brother.
That's the only good thing about it that I can think of.
So sorry to hear this, MM. All my sympathy. Use DU for strength during this rough time. Many strong shoulders here for you to lean on, at least figuratively.
I can't imagine losing my younger sibling before me. My heart hurts for you and yours tonight.
I'm not great at times like this like I wish I were, but I wish you all love and peace to guide you through this painful event.
