Clinton on NFL players who kneel: 'That's not against our anthem or our flag'

Hillary Clinton is defending NFL players who kneel during the national anthem, saying they’re not protesting the anthem or the flag.

Clinton said in London on Sunday that President Trump’s attacks against the players is an example of the “very clear dog-whistles” to his base, Fox News reported.

“Actually, kneeling is a reverent position,” Clinton said. “It was to demonstrate in a peaceful way against racism and injustice in our criminal system.” She added that the protests are “not against our anthem or our flag.”

NFL free agent Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem last season to protest racial injustice. He filed a grievance against the NFL Sunday, claiming owners had colluded together to stop him from playing in the league.
