can't do it any more...I've no words left.

It's all too insane, the way that the country is being systematically dismantled (to serve the welfare of all), recreated to boldly favor the ultrawealthy right wing nutcases.

I will read here, will do what I can for decency and progress, will post an occasional article I find that is worth reading.

But not as often - the last near-year is impacting my mood, my health, my optimism, my joy of life. Nothing makes sense....

There really is nothing to add, no magic words...I've got nothing.

See you around on my occasional pop ins. Hoping for Mueller. Hoping for enough to return to their senses before it is too late. Hoping...

Mon Oct 16, 2017, 02:29 PM

The little tree is about three feet tall and its leaves are spectacular right now. The catalpa has already lost almost all of it leaves, so the view is unimpeded. It's a thing I have never seen before, but my cousin, who is a botanist, says it's not unheard of though uncommon.
Those tomatoes are beautiful! Thanks for posting the pictures.

I was over 50 when I saw my first black gums. There were a perfectly-spaced pair over 50 feet tall, at the peak of their fall color. They looked like they were lit from inside and took my breath away. I always keep an eye out for them, but this year with frost so late, I fear they'll just lose their leaves before turning.

I want to stay engaged with politics - it's in my blood- but also mindful of the moment, which is good. I deleted my FB account a week ago today, and haven't missed it. So, proud of that. I find that I don't want to have any interaction with MAGATS, as I've heard them called. It's so discouraging; echoes of Nazi Germany.

I remember that The Daily Show was on once a week in France and I used to make a point of watching it to catch up with the news via Jon Stewart's humor.

I can't do that now since I am sick and broke due to my medical bills. The atmosphere in this country is so toxic and I do not know how we are going to survive long enough to see how Mueller's investigation turns out and how the GOP will react.

A whole lot of the GOP are going to go with him. The Kochs, the Mercers, Hannity, Limbaugh, Moore, O'Reilly, McConnell, Jones, Ryan, Gorsuch, Pence, I could go on and on. It seems the more the pieces of this puzzle are leaked, the more it seems that they're all guilty. It was a massive, carefully orchestrated, systematic takedown of Hillary Clinton. The whole GOP was in on it - and actively cheerleaded it - top to bottom. And the few people who probably weren't in on it, like Corker, are going to be a bit more difficult to sort out. And it doesn't take Mueller to figure that out. But I am all for him taking all the time he needs. I feel like it's going to be like that court room scene from the Dark Knight - you charge one with a crime, you can charge them all.

I am approaching the point where all I have left is curse words. But, that doesn't mean I'm going to walk away. I'm too obstinate for that. I'm not letting those fuckers win.

Not quite ten months in office, and this guy is even worse than I ever imagined, and I imagined he would be worse than Bush II.

But I think this guy’s going down. I’ve got to think it.

...to outrage fatigue. Or is that redundant? History told us this would happen, I just didn't expect it to be so soon or so swift. I've decided, like you, to pull my head in but I do want to live to be 100 years old. That's just about the last act in this play of which we are watching opening scenes. If I make it, my last days will be spent enjoying endless glasses of sparkling schadenfreude with a slices of lime and waving at drowning fascists with not a flicker of pity as they float by.

trying to stay positive in an America with evil people tearing it apart is a struggle. I keep wondering where are the sane people in DC, and the crazy shit just keeps on coming day and day out! I miss good men like Obama, with such respect for all Americans.

Procedures Act violations, on & on, all point to a long future of an extreme RW government. However, sometimes it is helpful to share our outrage. Sometimes when he does something & I am horrified, I think am I really hearing this right? As some have said, it is outrage fatigue. Then, I read here &, yep, we all understood the real meaning of the things he said that he is doing...even though to many, it means nothing. The NYT &WaPo Comments are good feedback loops too, but they are not really discussions.

My partner ran out of the bedroom this morning. He brought me coffee, and said, well, what's happening, as he sees me reading my digital newspapers. I started telling him & he couldn't stand it. So, instead of venting, discussing, or figuring out what the hell is going on, with ordinary people, it is better to do it with similar minds.

collectively, last year. We were almost exactly half and half. This year, we aren't invited, as tensions have boiled over. One in- law is married to a Palestinian, former Marine, film AD, who everyone loves. They have two beautiful children, and they are being raised Muslim. She lost it with the others after Charlottesville. How can you support someone who would stand idle while someone wants to run over my children, she asked to the family on FB?

That's why I stopped posting here...I rarely even lurk anymore.

I feel as if a great burden has been laid on me. Since election night.

I can't stop thinking, over and over, WHY has he not been impeached yet?

It's surreal.

I need a break too.

And read what interests me. I have resorted to relentlessly pursuing outside activities: Yard, dog and cats, power walking, swimming, work, all in the hopes of completely exhausting myself so I can sleep through the night. I still suffer insomnia to a great degree.
I totally get where you are. It is total madness, I am often in a dour mood myself.

I've been taking a few days a week off myself. I just can't face Trump and his trash everyday, anymore. Don't leave completely. I did that for a few years after the Hillary/Obama wars and I wish I hadn't. I DO avoid all the Hillary/Bernie wars, and refuse to let myself get entangled in those imbroglios.

Trump sucks. He's going to continue to suck for awhile. Sooner or later he will get his though. Then we can rejoice when the next Democratically controlled government repeals every stinking thing Trump ever did, and make this country TRULY great again!

Don't be a total stranger. Peace.

I get it. But this has been my fear from the very beginning. That those of us so staunchly opposed become weary from the fight. And the rest of America falls into apathy because it just takes too much energy to try to keep up with every new outrage. *sigh*

88. Most of the rightwing nut cases are NOT ultra wealthy
Tue Oct 17, 2017, 10:42 AM
Oct 2017

They're not the one-percenters, but they ARE the pawns of the one-percenters.

The ultra-wealthy in this country have a lot of economic power but very little voting power. There's too few of them to get a majority in any state or disctrict. So they manipulate other people to vote the way that benefits the one-percenters by fooling them. Whoever is dumb enough to be fooled, those people become the rightwing base and vote however they're told to vote.

We aren't the ones who've been fooled, so it's easy for us to see what's happening. We can't give up on this. Never stop trying to convince your friends, neighbors and family members that they are wrong and they're being fooled. Some RW people are seeing the light but first they have to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh and Faux News, and hopefully they'll listen to US instead.

Even after Trump has been impeached and kicked out, we STILL have to fight this fight. The one-percenters will still be here even after Trump is gone.
