Detailing the ever-changing former bedrocks of the Republican party platform — “free trade, fiscal restraint, nation-building” — Latimer argues that all but one of the GOP’s defining issues have been “thrown out of a golden Trump Tower window with barely a word of dissension.” The one exception is Trump’s tax plan that even the president’s own Treasury Secretary has conceded will benefit the wealthy.

“Once signed into law, the Republican tax cut plan will give billions of dollars back to nearly every member and supporter of the GOP establishment,” Latimer writes. “To D.C. Republicans, that’s well worth enduring a crazy tweet every now and again, or mouthing support for a wall that will never be built, or nodding agreement about a trade war that will never come to pass, or even standing witness to scary games of one-upmanship with crazy dictators.”

And once the president signs that order, Republicans “will finally have an achievement to run on as they seek reelection in 2018.”

“After that, the investigative team assembled by special counsel Robert Mueller can do its worst,” he concludes. “Mueller would actually be doing GOP leaders a favor.”

I think the Republicans will stay course, and are good with that. They have a man leading that is doing all the things, and saying what they have never been allowed to do. Trump follows no rules, has no decency, and mouths off whatever he wants. I think the Republicans are good with this. I know the supporters are good with this.

The entire world has President Trump Stress Disorder. Even if you get what you want (r&r Obamacare, TPP, tax whatever, 22 week abortion ban, 1-3x SCOTUS, stock market, protectionism, tariffs, missile sales, free guns for all, standing in the NFL, etc) the mental gymnastics are taking their toll.

I know what you're thinking, Democrats don't have power, the votes aren't there, they shouldn't get in the way when the GOP is self destructing, blah, blah, blah...

Politics is perception and all Democrats, no matter from what wing, in unison should be calling for Trump's impeachment out of conviction and to be seen as having the guts to stand for what is right before they get out played yet again!

12. The idea behind the tax passing is that the Repugs will then feel free to attack Trump

in an effort to appear in step with the majority of voters, since the 2018 election is coming up, they can brag that they passed at least one major bill.

That's the IDEA....

If the tax legis. does not pass, they have will theoretically still be able to turn on him...impeachment....Amendment 25....

Trump has pissed off McConnell, so it might happen the House will take some action, finally.
