This time of year is our company's annual United Way Donation campaign.

My company is a huge sponsor and matches our contributions and we are also very active in volunteering (we have days where departments/teams can take off from work to go work on community projects and do other things to help in the community). Whatever we give, our company matches our contribution and we are allowed to pick our own charities - we don't have to allow the United Way to decide how our dollars will be distributed.

This year, there was a special section where you could donate percentages to the victims of the hurricane in Puerto Rico, the Earthquake in Mexico and also the victims in Florida and Texas. Usually, I donate to local charities, particularly the Greater Boston Food bank and other charities that support families, women and children.

However this year was different. I gave 60% to Puerto Rico, 20% to the Mexican Earthquake Victims and left 20% to my local Boston Food Bank. If our goddamned racist, cheap government can't help out PR then we are going to have to do what we can. I mentioned it to a few other people and they were right on board and disgusted at the way the government treated PR and donated large percentages as well (not because of me, but because they felt it was the right thing to do).

Anyway, we are huge, global company and this is an effort that is worldwide, so I really hope this gives the people of PR a big boost. I hope other people in this country and around the world are doing what they can as well.

I do. But PR was just so screwed over I kind of felt that I should help to make up the shortage. I wish you all the best.

I was born in Jamaica Plain. Grew up in Hingham. Moved to Florida with my parents as a teenager.

Do you ever come back? Both very nice areas! Do you miss it at all? My parents go to Florida in the winter, I have gone down a few times. It's beautiful, but I don't think I could handle the summer down there as a northerner. Were you hard hit by the storms?

I always direct my "Fair Share" to causes that help local families. As sorry as I am for the people of PR, the Virgin Islands have almost disappeared from the news, and they're suffering as well.

10. So many of us were sickened by the treatment of PR by Trump we gave a big chunk of

our donations to them. If anything good came out of this, it was to outrage people enough to open up their wallets to donate generously to the people of PR. The Virgin Islands needs help too and their should also be a campaign for that. It really helps when it is organized like this one was. I wish that would had been on our slate, because I certainly would have included them.
