(10,053 posts)Almost everybody in Trumpy's past is as shady and money grubbing as he is, so the lure of big money (and an axe to grind) may just bring someone out if the woodwork.

They are new...give them chance. They posted some great responses in the Women's conference thread. I like what they had to say there.

(6,474 posts)I actually bought it-it was widely distributed and it brought down many Republicans including Bob Livingstone

(531 posts)He told Republican leaders late on Thursday afternoon that the sex magazine Hustler was going to expose his affairs early next year. Some leaders urged him to keep quiet, but his wife, Bonnie, encouraged him to tell his colleagues immediately, despite the momentous vote that was nearing on the floor.
At that point on Thursday night, Roll Call, a newspaper on Capitol Hill, reported on its Web site that Livingston was going to admit to the affairs and was going to offer to resign. In a closed meeting with his fellow Republicans, he did admit to the affairs but made no offer to step down, receiving three standing ovations instead.
On Friday, Larry Flynt, the publisher of Hustler, told a news conference in Los Angeles that his investigators had found four women who said they had been sexually involved with Livingston over the last 10 years. Flynt, who said he wanted to expose the "hypocrisy" on Capitol Hill, had offered $1 million to anyone who could prove sexual indiscretions by members of Congress.

(38,000 posts)but the full 1 million was not paid to one person.
Here's some articles that talk about it:

(32,006 posts)The Post article says flatly no one received a million dollars. It quotes an employee of Flynt stating some people were paid "in the six figures" but offers nothing to back that up.
The Vanity Fair article includes the relevant observation:
Nothing much turned up, at least that became public. (Flynt does have a McCarthy-like habitor maybe its Barnumesqueof insisting he has ripe, drippingly scandalous goods he cant quite show yet.)
The moldea link is a rambling diary of some unknown individual which doesn't have any evidence of anything.

(1,325 posts)Livingston stepped down right before the impeachment vote on President Clinton. He took over from Newt the philanderer who was diddling his super catholic girlfriend Callista Bisek at the time - now wife #3 and our ambassador to the Vatican if you can believe it. And who took over for Livingston? Why the one and only David Vitter the diaper shitter. What a line-up and what a legacy. You just can't make this stuff up!

(1,325 posts)Vitter replaced Livingston in a special Louisiana election. Talk about more of the same. Vitter follows Livingston, and Hastert follows Gingrich. Unfrigginbuhleevable!

(7,522 posts)Livingston is one case. I sent him details about Republican Congressman J.C. Watts having an illegitimate child he never admitted to nor supported financially. Flynt later outed him and Watts had to admit to it. His career was never the same. I think there were other cases.
