Charleston lawmaker asking Congress take action against President Trump
S.C. Rep. Wendell Gilliard (D-Charleston) compares Washington to a reality show, and he says it has to be put to an end. This week, the lawmaker took a step in the direction where he argues change is needed.
In a statement sent to ABC News 4 Thursday, Rep. Gilliard said he has asked Congress to write a resolution that could help remove President Donald Trump from office. Rep. Gilliard describes recent statements, decisions and tweets from Trump as "atrocities."
Among concerns is the highly-publicized criticism of the President's handling of a call to the widow of a fallen soldier. The widow says President Trump told her that her husband "knew what he signed up for..." President Trump has denied using those words and says he has proof.
Rep. Frederica Wilson (D- Florida) says she was in the room at the time of the call and has said publicly shared what she witnessed.
