In the first place, Rep. Wilson didn't "listen in" on a private conversation...

it was on speakerphone in a car and everyone could hear it. "Listen in on" implies secretly listening on another extension phone without the parties on the phone knowing.

Why can't they understand that people know the difference. Their lame attempt to spin all this is just plain stupid...

Given trump*'s total lack of empathy and social graces, I'd be shocked if Kelly would be comfortable just listening to one side of the conversation.

As was Rep. Wilson, who was a long time family friend of the Johnson family, as well as an elected representative of the US government accompanying a serviceman's family to meet his body--which at least she managed to do, even if no one in the administration did.

And they have gone on record backing up Rep. Wilson's account of the conversation and the family's reaction.

So can anyone explain why she's the bad one here?
