something remarkable i noticed about donnie's approval/disapproval ratings:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_approval_rating

check out the historical comparison section. in particular, note the "highest margin" column.

"margin" is the net approval number, i.e., "approval" percentage minus "disapproval" percentage.
"highest margin" shows the net approval number at the president's most popular time.

every president going back to fdr had at least a moment when their approval rating was markedly higher than their disapproval rating.
shrub, for example, was a disaster, but at least we rallied around him right after 9/11, he blew it, of course, but at least he had a moment in the sun.

the worst rating other than donnie was ford, who of course was never elected to the presidency. still, he posted a net approval number of 26 percent!

but get this -- donnie's *best* performance ever?

one.

one.

let that sink in.

on 1/24/17, just after inauguration, *one* percent more people approved than disapproved of him.

ever since then, he's been negative, with more disapprovals than approvals.

that's a huge gap from any other president and a truly remarkable statistic.

still it's interesting to note that shrub, one of the worst presidents ever, once had a net approval of a whopping 83 points.

meanwhile, the best donnie could muster was...

... one.

that was all the hope we could muster as a nation for his presidency, and those minimal hopes were so quickly squashed!

sad!

We had a choice. We always had a choice. Sad to say many were blinded by anger and thirst for revenge and rallied around the simpleton in chief and approved shrub accordingly.

I would have rated Bush II the worst in many decades, but Trump is blowing him out of the water. If we survive, I wonder how the history books will depict these days.

I actually think Bush II was a sort of decent guy, just a terrible president with a terrible cabinet.

but agree that donnie is so horrible he makes shrub look good.

shrub was better in two ways:

first, he had basic if minimal, competence at the job of actually governing. they knew and generally followed the basic protocols, even if they did pull some whoppers. but they picked their battles. they didn't come off as a complete amateur hour.

second, shrub is not a complete sociopath the was donnie is. shrub talked about "compassionate conservatism" and seemed to have a genuine sliver of humanity in him. then he'd hug poor people, then go and destroy funding for all their programs, but at least you got a sense that he felt mildly conflicted about it. not nearly enough to change his mind, of course, but at least he seemed to have the capacity to feel others' pain.

donnie, by contrast, goes far beyond merely not caring about the pain and suffering he's causing. he seems to actually revel and delight in it. he's having a blast taking away people's healthcare, and sounds like a rotten kid taking a magnifying glass to some ants.

because, as you say, he had qualms but did horrible shit anyway.

Fuck him sideways. We can't allow that prick to be rehabilitated.

Remember how even before his election he wanted to have a war because, "War presidents get everything they want"? How many people died in Iraq? How much integrity, good will, blood and treasure was squandered there?

We should not allow that scum to be rehabilitated because we lack the vocabulary to describe the enormity that is tRump.

This project, apparently pushed by both obamas and by the clintons as well, tell you everything you meed to know about the entrenched democratic party leadership.

There is very, very little that was ever good about any bush ever, least of all tiny bush's response to 911. Fascist aristocrats every one. None of them very bright. And all of them as crooked as the day is long.

Nothing about trump can ever change that.

I remain extremely proud to have remained in the 10% that could not be swayed by rank nationalism, who actually remembered his illegitimacy, and who perceived his likely complicity in the events of 9/11.
