Naive question re: Trump and golf

Is the club able to charge the government for security, utilization, etc? If so, is that publicized? I'm guessing the colossal asshole is just going there to drain government coffers into his.

Is that fair?

Self enrichment and to tear apart all of the progress that President Obama made.

Ponder the security required for a golf course. A large piece of land with holes cut across the entire property. So for example, hole number 5 might run parallel to hole number 9, while hole number 11 runs perpendicular to both holes 5 and 9. So it is not likely that the President is put out onto the course with a gap of a couple holes, what is likely is that they shut down the entire course for the Presidents visit.

Add to that, homes may line the fairway of numerous holes. There are bluffs and valleys so additional air and ground support is required.

We used to play on a course in Dana Point, CA. When President Obama was scheduled to give the Commencement at UC Irvine someone had bought out the course the entire day. It turned out it wasn't Obama playing but someone else bought out the course, for the entire day!

Our discounted rate to play was $100, multiply that be 4 players, $400 per tee time. Multiply that by 7 tee times per hour, $2,800. Multiply that by the entire day, $28,000. Now visitors to the hotel on the course payed twice our rate, so $56,000. Now tRump probably charges closer to $300 for his course, so just to block the course off would be $84,000.

tRump could be using his play to fully book his course for the day AND have maintenance scheduled around his visits. So he gets the benefit of full capacity, while minimizing course impact, while scheduling maintenance after his round, while having the U.S. taxpayers pick up the tab.

8. As of August the Secret Service had paid $60k just to rent golf carts

Yes he actually charges the secret service to use carts at his golf courses.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2017/08/08/trumps-bedminster-trip-costs-secret-service-13-500-golf-cart-rentals/549401001/

President Trump insists he's on a "working vacation," but that hasn't stopped the Secret Service from spending $13,500 on golf cart rentals ahead of this go-round in Bedminster, N.J.

A purchase order, pulled by progressive super PAC American Bridge and reviewed by USA TODAY, showed the agency signed the golf cart rental contract last week, the day before the president left for his 17-day vacation up at Trump National Golf Club.

The New York vendor providing the golf carts to the Secret Service has daily, weekly and month rental rates. Weekly rates range from $500 to $900 a cart, depending on the model and monthly rates range from $750 to $1,200 a cart.

The agency also signed two rental contracts with the same company in June, each worth $5,400.

Additionally, the Secret Service spent $35,185 on rental contracts earlier this year down in Florida, when Trump was regularly visiting Mar-a-Lago before it closed for the season.

That brings the grand total spent on golf cart rentals so far this year to $59,585.
