(8,652 posts)It is not in the tax plan.
Some phony-boloney slight of hand bull shit that gives an actual tax cut of billions to corporations and individuals in the top 10% is supposed to trickle down to workers as some sort of "out of the goodness of our hearts" pay increase to the tune of $4,000 a year, over time.
Somebody should ask that lying sack of shit Sarah Huckabee to show you in the fucking tax plan where those cuts are for the middle class, and whether or not deductions for state and local taxes will be eliminated. If that's the case, a majority of the middle class will be paying more in taxes than they do now.
It's a fucking shell game.

Nothing. It does not exist.

(3,051 posts)People will, indeed, get a substantial tax cut (assuming things are done as said -- a large assumption).
It will probably be wildly popular.
But it will simply be replaced by deficit spending (i.e., the government printing money to pay its bills).
Printing money is inflationary, and harms people who saved cash and fixed incomes.
Printing money (deficit spending) is essentially a flat tax on cash savers and fixed incomes, paid in the form of inflation.
The only Republican honest enough to point this out was Rand Paul, who, despite his many, many flaws, is a cheap bastard and sick of the shell game.

(22,912 posts)I hate how Republicans act like tax cuts are free money that come without any costs. The programs they plan to cut make much more of a positive difference in my life than anything I can buy with $4,000 - as if my household would pocket anything remotely like that - we won't.
Wait until that family getting that $4,000 has to put someone in nursing care long term - see how far they get with a few thousand after Medicaid and Medicare get slashed.

(9,067 posts)I would save that money to pay a portion of my taxes and have to save a lot more to cover the remaining taxes than I do now and it's tough. In the end I'll be getting less of my income.
It's going to hurt the self employed. The company I work for doesn't have employees, just contracted self employed people. I know a lot of people in this boat.
