Corrections

Having heard Republican spokes-whores all day today after Senator Jeff Flake’s remarks on the Senate floor, I feel a few “corrections” are in order.

Donald Trump does not have “a problem with the truth”. He is not prone to mis-stating the facts. He does not “speak from a different perspective”. He is not “telling it like it is” – he is telling it like it isn’t. He is a liar, pure and simple.

Donald Trump is not governing in “his own unique style”. He is not a “different kind of leader”. He is not “shaking up DC politics”. He is not “fighting the ‘establishment’ for the betterment of the citizenry”. He is – to borrow an apt term – a fucking moron who has absolutely NO idea what he’s doing.

Donald Trump is not a “strong, forceful leader”. He’s an ignorant bully. He is not “appealing to the populace”, he is appealing to his base – the bigots, the racists, the misogynists, the ill-informed, and those who are as stupid as he is.

Donald Trump does not reflect what “the majority of Americans who put him in office” think or believe. The fact is that the majority of Americans voted for Hillary Clinton, NOT Trump.

Donald Trump is not “rightfully fighting back” when he tells lies about those who oppose him. He is lying – yet again – because tweeting lies and engaging in petty personal disputes is the only thing a fucking moron knows how to do.

Donald Trump is not “trying to move the country forward”. He is trying to move the country backwards to a time when women’s rights, gay/lesbian rights, minority rights, and the rights of the disabled are not only diminished, but are mocked.

Donald Trump is not “pursuing a great agenda on behalf of the American people” – unless you believe the American people want their taxes raised in order to give tax breaks to the wealthy, want their affordable Obamacare to be replaced with a program that leaves millions with NO healthcare, want war with North Korea and Iran, want the First Amendment to be rescinded at the whim of a blatant liar, and want facts to be completely ignored when inconvenient to that blatant liar.

In view of the responses of Republicans to Jeff Flake’s remarks today, it becomes even more obvious – as though it weren’t already obvious enough – that the GOP will DO anything and SAY anything, no matter how ludicrous, to protect and defend a lying, racist, pussy-grabber who spends more time tweeting covfefe and playing golf than he devotes to the duties and responsibilities of his office.

Donald Trump is a PROVEN LIAR – and he has been proven a liar over and over again. That’s a fact that Republicans not only refuse to address, but refuse to even acknowledge.

As to the “reasoning” the Republicans keep profferring – the idea that their own constituents are behind Trump a hundred percent – they have yet to explain why this “popular pResident’s” approval ratings keep sinking. It would seem glaringly apparent that the liar-in-chief is far less popular than Republicans would have us believe – but then when it comes to the GOP, truthfulness left the building a long time ago.

When a political party embraces lies as truth, embraces “alternative facts” rather than actual facts, and promotes the concept that lying to the American people on a daily basis is somehow a matter of “presidential prerogative”, it’s time for that party to be called out for what it is – a party completely devoid of morals, decency, patriotism, and concern for the country they purport to hold so dear.

Collaboration with the enemy was harshly dealt with in the aftermath of WWII. If I were a Republican with political ambitions, I'd keep that in mind.

backward bully, a narcissist, and sociopath. Most, but not all, of these are his tiny base. A small number are in congress. I don't understand any of these people and why they interpret Trump as they do. It should be obvious what he is and what he isn't.

Then...there are republicans who KNOW he's a liar, a moron, an ignorant backward bully, a narcissist, and sociopath...but then somehow think that his small dysfunctional mind can produce something good for them, that he and his hand-picked non-experts can carefully analyze problems and come up with solutions that resemble a good idea. Most republican officials act like they believe this. I don't understand these people either. Can a narcissistic sociopath come up with actions that are not sociopathic and self serving?

If a known sociopath says... 'Yes! it's a great idea in this time of deficits and low interest rates to give a tax cut to the wealthy like me and to profitable corporations like mine and therefore have to cut safety nets and public protections...' then shouldn't a person question their support of these policies? What do they think about sharing goals with a sociopath?

and what defined one. He told me that most of the politicians in office are sociopaths and now I believe he was correct. I read this short explanation recently and it is spot on.

He sagely stated, "Everything changes once the lying starts." With Trump, lying is the accepted norm. He's "Gas lighting" a significant number of rabid, misguided fringe characters who choose to continue the lying.
We are a nation of citizens with bad habits. Lying is a bad habit and practiced by significant numbers.
He's a cheesy reality TV actor and failed businessman who has a long string of victims in his wake. The gullible, delusional followers are in general good people who were duped by the Grifter in Chief. Many fringe dwellers are tired of being wage slaves in a two tiered system of lords and serfs. Trump gives them false hope, and tells them he's the only one who tells the truth, all else being fake news.
The Democrats need a better, more encouraging message than "we're not them." Hey Democratic leadership, snap out of it and give people something to vote for, and put it plain language without fear of offending those who would never vote for you anyway.
May I suggest one of my favorite films, "A Face in the Crowd" where the lead character, Lonesome Rhodes, who parlayed a TV gig into manipulating and exploiting his followers, while sneering at them with palpable disdain. He was, like Trump, a cult leader. Cults always tell their followers that everyone else is lying to them. Remember Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th Ave. and not lose a vote.
So I've been thinking, why not try talking to Trump supporters in a more disarming tone. Start with a joke. It opens the mind.
Explain slowly and with confidence the reasons you want Trump off the political landscape. Ask them about that high paying job Trump claims to be bringing to our shores. Ask them how a 20 foot wall is going to stop someone with a 21 foot ladder and some rope. Trump knows how to extract favors from the willfully ignorant. Establish some common ground and engage in polite conversation.
All right, I'm rambling. It's the new prescriptions I started yesterday. But what the hell, I'm having some fun. The comedy writes itself. Unfortunately we're all going to have to pay for "Reign of Error."
So what percentage of alcoholics voted for Trump?
It's always the bad habits that lead to blind alleys and dead ends.

..and he can often repeat lies fed to him, but mostly he's just winging it. It shows. Lies would be more consistent.

He is a fabulist who floats through life wishing out loud, and who flies into a rage when his handlers are unable to make his dreams come true.

Donald Trump is not an "unconventional president" demonstrating "unconventional behavior". He's a mentally unstable, character disordered clear and present danger to humanity whose behavior is markedly antisocial.
