I think what we are now seeing - decency, doing the "right thing" - is extremely fragile - not the

default.

What we are seeing from not only trump and his miscreants, but his supporters - that is the default. It is the apathetic thing, the lazy thing, those emotions which are most base - whether it is the laziness of all of the isms (sexism, racism) or the -ogonies (misogyny).

The media is doing it right in front of our eyes. Normalization - acceptance - is lazy and apathetic. It is hard to keep facts straight. It is hard to report accurately when you are not in the groups that are being harmed.

I suspect throughout human history we've seen this.

We are at a dangerous tipping point. Being awake, aware, maintaining the outrage, telling the truth, doing the right and decent thing - these are hard.

The problem is, we don't seem to have nearly enough politicians or media that are willing or able - either intellectually, or morally - to do the right thing. And we will all pay.

Yes, when you sell your soul to the devil there is always a price to pay in the end.
