A homophobic ad was placed next to this pizza shop. Their response was delicious.

Wiseguise Pizza didn't really want to be embroiled in the middle of a heated social debate. But, when it happened anyway, the pizza shop more than rose to the occasion, with a great sense of humor to boot.

After a polarizing political message appeared on a billboard adjacent to the restaurant in Mowbray, Tasmania, in Australia, the pizza shop could no longer ignore the elephant in the room — or, more specifically, the bigotry on the nearby street sign.

"IT'S OK TO SAY 'NO,'" read the billboard — a message encouraging Australians to vote against marriage equality, promoted by lobbyist group Coalition for Marriage.

Wiseguise Pizza couldn't let that stand — so they decided to have a little fun with it.

If you set a dish or a coffee cup with 1/4 cup or so of water inside with your pizza. That will prevent the microwave from vaporizing all moisture in the crust and drying it into a rock or rubber texture.

Or Calphalon. I’m open-minded.

Warm uncovered, over medium heat until the cheese re-melts. Time depends on thickness of the crust.

Damn! Just had lunch and now I’m hungry again!

Cold pizza is disgusting any time of day, regardless of what’s on it.

It’s not nearly as disgusting as homophobia, but it’s still bad.

is so versatile and every locale adapts it to preferences.

Grew up with Canadian bacon and pineapple here and learned to add jalapeño when I lived in California.

Enjoy west coast style, east coast style and Chicago, depending on mood and weather. Have had it in Italy - yummy and in Germany (with ham, boiled egg and green picante sauce - must use fork and knife there). Noticed fried egg on top seemed popular in Amsterdam.

Don't care much for anchovy on it, but I like the anchovy in a good Caesar salad.

I read that recently.

"Despite its tropical name, Hawaiian pizza is actually a Canadian creation.
The pineapple-laden pie is the brainchild of retired cook, Sam Panopoulos,
who first served pineapple on pizza at Satellite Restaurant in Chatham, Ont."

First time i ever saw it offered was at a pizza joint in Seattle. It was ham and pineapple. I'm guessing that was mid 80's which is a good 20 years after the guy in your link did it.

While having gone to many good pizza joints in Chicagoland by then, i still didn't remember seeing it anywhere until that place in Seattle. Doesn't mean someone else wasn't doing it though.

Ham, pineapple, black olives, green peppers. But, as luck would have it, I have type II diabetes. Pizza is off the menu for me, but that's OK. I had more than my share when I was younger. The torch is passed, and all that.

And every year, they post something asking alumni to give advice to the incoming freshman class, and I always post, "Do as I did - order pineapple on your pizza. It will cut down on people trying to mooch a slice off of you."
