Majority of Houston Texans Kneel During National Anthem Over Owner’s Comments

Last week, ESPN reported that Houston Texans owner Bob McNair told other owners and NFL executives that they couldn’t have the “inmates running the prison” regarding the protests during the national anthem that has become a cultural hot topic of late.

After McNair’s comments went public, a number of Houston Texans players were reportedly furious, with star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins not participating in Friday’s practice while other players considered a walkout. ESPN reported on Saturday that the team’s players were planning a protest before today’s game.

So what did they do? Nearly every single player knelt during the playing of the national anthem. There were, however, a handful of athletes that did stand as the Star-Spangled Banner played.
