Their entire family could end up living in a cardboard box. I'd imagine that would offer some incentive to them. Jail time is bad enough, but poverty for the wife and kids could be a pretty strong motivator...

But there are 12 charges in the indictment. Each incident of money laundering can result in up 20 years. All the penalties can be applied consecutively, ipso facto this can effectively result in a life sentence. Although I highly doubt that. More likely he’ll serve 3 years in a tennis court prison then he’ll be out to spend his tens of millions of illicitly gotten gains.

In America, the rich rarely suffer full consequences for the crimes they commit. I’d be more interested in the financial penalties. Here’s a rare case where I’d love to see the asset seizure laws applied.

About the conspiracy charge. Many people are reading more into the title of the charge than what it actually encompasses

it does seem like a "walk the plank" charge, but really, it carries a max 5 year penalty?
