Something Thom Hartmann talked about yesterday: pictures of carnage.

I don't think we can make pictures of the carnage at that church or a school or any other crime scene public. But I do think our elected representatives need to look at the pictures. They need to see what happens, the blood, the bodies torn apart, when these weapons are used. They need to remember that when they accept checks from the NRA. I'm sick of the sterile "thoughts & prayers" crap they pull every time.

Maybe it would open people's eyes to what these weapons do.

That won't happen though, and people will just say....well, they died, and that was that. Might as well have died of a heart attack.

It minimizes the impact these guns have, by not showing the horrible effects.

Even if youtube took it down, it's still there. Personally I've seen the worst of carnage from acts like this and don't need any more, but if you haven't and you can take it, it's a life changer.

I do think lawmakers should have to view these acts before making decisions on weapons that affect all of us. Maybe they should do it during their moments of silence or before public prayer time.

kids bodies were literally ripped apart with many bullets pumped into them. Maybe it Congress had their moment of silence in a locked secure room where they were forced to look at the pics--and the grieving parents, it might change some minds.

Because they know they can still be elected if they do. Opposing gun control needs to become such a repugnant position that they no longer think they can win an election if they do it. And the only way to do that is to change public opinion by showing the actual consequences.

I am sure there would have been relatives from Sandy Hook, Orlando, Las Vegas, who would be willing, in the name of gun control, to release photos...

First, you put your computer in danger, second you need to know how to get where you're going, third you're under surveillance by law enforcement, forth your watched by governments, fifth there are things that can't be unseen, sixth you dare not go without as much anonymity as humanly possible...
I've been playing with internet security as a hobby for years and I've seen enough. I was just flashing back some ugly things like a line of 5 to 10 year olds being crucified in a row, abused and kept awake with some chemical all in front of their parents... There's other stuff just as bad and it's not cinema. You can't unsee those things and it does effect you if your not a psychopath. I'm sure lawmakers would have to take notice if the victims of violence were in mind, unless they're sick in the head.

Not just for legislators, but for everyone.

Maybe if some of the gun apologists here saw the damage that bullets do to a human body they'd re-think their support of gun ownership over human life.

Force all members who accepted money from the NRA to sign each photo, saying "I approve this carnage."

It would SO drive the message home: a TV ad showing the 5 minutes after scene in the church, with a TV camera panning slowly over the bodies as they lay, and then the voice of our senior Senator, "I'm John Cornyn, and I approved this carnage."

I know, I know, that's completely off the wall, but nothing else so far seems to help.

The right wing would scream about it, but fuck them, show it, show it all. Over and over.

George Bernard Shaw said there are two effective ways to teach: through art or torture. It’s way past time to apply the torture of looking at this carnage up close. Show what rifle bullets do to a 3-year-old toddler. Show what they do to a 78-year-old grandmother. SHOW THEM WHAT THEIR BLOOD MONEY IS REALLY PURCHASING.

with pics of animals (or a carcass of a dead animal) or even some sort of simulated human be shown (like a crash test dummy with simulated blood) - shot up - to illustrate the damage that can be done with automatic weapons or guns with a bump stock?

This might be another way to get the same point across.
