I was surprised. But in light of de Blasio's stunning 40 point victory for mayor, I guess he had to ask.
De Blasio avoided and yes/no answer and said "right now I'm focused on helping my city solve our problems" and so forth. Entirely appropriate but Barnicle kept pressing him. Bill stuck with his answers.
What do you think? Who would he get as a running mate to balance the "NYC liberal" label the GOP will probably trot out again.
I immediately thought of Amy Klobuchar as his running mate. Midwest and a good Democrat...not a bad combination...
What do you think?

(63,912 posts)The underling point here is to question whether that label is somehow automatically a demerit when it comes to the rest of the country. Given the results in VA it seems every conventional political tag can be questioned.
The GOP has used this kind of divisiveness to its advantage. A NYC liberal believes in the same basic things most people now believe, except for the far right wing of the Republican Party.
De Blasio rides the subway in NYC and talks to people going to work about what they care the most about politically. Just because they are New Yorkers doesn't mean that they don't care about what most other Americans care about.

(2,679 posts)I didn't watch the whole segment, and I missed that part. But I was thinking before he came on the show, "now deBlasio might be a good president candidate." Well of course unless there was some unknown dirt from his past. But I have not heard of any. What I do see is a strong smart candidate.
I say in two years he might want to do one of those exploratory committee stuff.
