(30,613 posts)It appears that elections have consequences.
So sad for the Congressman. Perhaps he could console himself with a good latte.

(82,849 posts)A far better person than me, he actually tried to engage Rep. Goodlatte and wrote to him fairly regularly. He came out to Oregon for a visit and to photograph some of the remaining old growth forest that Goodlatte wanted to turn into pressboard and toilet paper. We went on a hike to Rowena Falls and he took some shots with me in them for scale. Somewhere in Goodlatte's papers is probably a photo or two of me.
No, I wasn't flipping the bird. Dang.

(4,267 posts)we definitely CAN take our country back.
But remember the other side will work even harder to keep control by gerrymandering, voter suppression, russian disinformation bots and paid puppets.

Virginia Republican Rep. Bob Goodlatte, the chairman of the House judiciary committee, announced he won't run for re-election on Thursday, just two days after the stunning defeat by GOP candidates in statewide and local contests his home state.
In a written statement, Goodlatte said he and his wife discussed the 2018 midterm election and his time as chairman coming to an end next year was a factor.

(1,148 posts)candidates will go lower and lower (Is it possible? It is!)
GOP's going to be running the Bannon's swastika crop by this time next year.

(36,422 posts)But I believe Goodlatte's decision to retire has little to do with the Va election results, and more to do with his chairmanship on the House Judiciary Committee. He knows what is coming down the pike and is getting out of Dodge before it blows up.
