No matter what it is and no matter how much good it does. If Obama had set up a program that gives toys to poor children at Christmas it would be cut. If Obama had set up a way to provide free treatment for babies with life-threatening birth defects, that would have to go. What if he'd funded literacy programs so people could read? Nope. What if Obama's NIH had found a cure for cancer and was treating terminal cases for free? Nope, cut it out. If it has Obama's name on it or was set up during his term, it's gone.

Sadly that is almost his entire political agenda.

1) Try and undo anything Obama did.
2) Figure out how to profit while in office.

Among all disgusting moves, this one is remarkable !

This program is great on many sides (as would have claimed the scumbag but not for a matter as this one).

I visited the website and took a look at the financial section. I tried to know how much it costs, though it shouldn't be an issue since it serves an excellent cause.

I have read very quickly , I did not find a precise amount but if I understand well, the irs mention a total amount of +/- 3 million $ from variable sources. Never mind, even if all came from public money, it is truly peanuts (less then peanuts) regarding to a national budget !

3 little millions ?? Sarcastically, I would say it is less than zero...

What is the aim in cutting such program ? What benefit ?

I'm flabbergasted !

These wonderful dogs have turned around so many of the lives of veterans who are disabled and are suffering from PTSD. And it's a great life for these special dogs, too! Trump says he supports our vets, but then we know he's a lying bastard, and this is just one more below-the-belt blatant instance of it. The nearest I can figure is what has been said upthread - that this was a program supported by President Obama. He managed to do so many good things in eight years - despite constant Republican obstruction - and Trump is inexplicably determined to dismantle every good thing we have.

Is this something that an independent organization can do, I wonder? So that it can continue?

Every time something like this happens, I wonder why the veterans as a group support Republicans. Don't think this will cause vets not to vote for Trump. I remember when Bush closed VA hospitals to save money (again, he had tax cuts coming)...so that vets in rural areas would lose healthcare unless they traveled long distances to get it from the nearest VA hospital. Did that tick vets off so that they voted Democratic? No. Some don't even know he did that, to this day.

It seems the way things are is: if it doesn't affect someone personally, he either doesn't care or doesn't appreciate the pain it causes.

In an email to WTOP Thursday evening, a spokesperson for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center said that a stop work order was issued so that medical officials could “restructure the contract to enhance oversight of patient care.”

Walter Reed apologized for the temporary halt in the popular service and planned to bring back an improved version of the program.
