Arctic blast invades U.S., targets Mid-Atlantic and Northeast for the weekend

By Friday morning, wind chill readings in New York City and Boston will be in the teens Fahrenheit, the coldest they've been so far this season.

... on Friday night, overnight low temperatures in New York may hold in the low-20s Fahrenheit in the city ...
Numerous record lows could be tied or broken on Friday night in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
A hard freeze is also forecast in Boston as well as Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

The Arctic blast is likely to trigger lake effect snow squalls across the Great Lakes ...
dumping it in the form of narrow bands of heavy snow across parts of upstate New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, among other areas.

It was 13 degrees F here this morning and has been way below average for a week. Minnesota is still a state, I believe. Now, that cold weather is moving east, so it finally is being noticed.

It's too early for that. Oh, well. I have a very nice parka that is good down to 50 below, according to Lands End.

I live about 55 miles south of the city. I took the dog out for a walk around 4:15 am and it was pretty darned cold. Had to go to the winter car and get some gloves.
