Danica Roem says she won not on the basis of being trans but because of shitty government

She ran on the appalling lack of infrastructure improvement on Rt 28. She ran on the lack of information access to the public. She ran on issues.

The fact she is trans, she admits, helped with some fundraising, but that was it.

She was just on MTP Daily for a longer interview.

Wow.

Apparently there’s a stretch of highway that everyone hates down there.

NoVa due mainly to the massive number of people there
Tidewater due to a funnel effect. The Peninsula is only 24 miles at its widest and I64 is Main Street. East of the tunnel and bridge you then hit the population centers of Norfolk and Va. Beach.

Both are a mess.

About 10-15 years ago or so Tidewater wanted to tax itself 1/2 cent sales tax specifically for road repairs. Due to the Dillon rule it had to go through the Gen. Assembly - the Republican controlled G. A. didnt allow them to have a vote on it.

It's what every Democrat should be doing. Call it the "Why can't we have nice things?" platform. Infrastructure, health care, education, wages and serious tax reform.

On MSNBC earlier this week, she refused to pile on criticism of her homophobe opponent, saying that she is concentrating on constituent service and he is now going to be one of her constituents that she will be serving. She is setting great example for how Dems win.
