Women are not used to being assaulted, but they are used to not being heard, listened to, or believed. That is one reason why.

7. Yes, it's victim blaming. Most victims don't file charges because the process is too painful

the charges are hard to prove, and (especially back then) too unlikely to result in any consequences for the abuser.

She would have had to file charges by age 21. She wasn't even able to tell her mother till ten years had passed -- so, when she was 24. Filing charges wasn't even a possibility if she couldn't tell her own mother.

The 14 yr old didn't tell her mom till the 90s which I bet was during his 10 commandments period. Even now I don't think what she described would have got an actual rape charge since she says they both had underwear on and denies intercourse occurred. I personally think it did, but she should have been interviewed by a DA to get to the full truth. When she said she wasn't ready for that and just wanted it to be over makes me think there was more.

That she just wanted it to be over... people who have been groomed and raped often report feeling that way during the violation.

Probably her first experience too and painful. I hate to get personal but I thought the same thing with my first time. She was not prepared, but that is why he wanted her.

“I wanted it over with — I wanted out,” she remembers thinking. “Please just get this over with. Whatever this is, just get it over.” Corfman says she asked Moore to take her home, and he did.

That sounds like rape. And maybe it is still too difficult for her to process the totality of what happened.
