He hosted a Veterans Town Hall Meeting, today. Stories were shared, grievances aired, and tears shed. I saw him hugging and whispering support for some, and shaking the hands of all. No doubt his staff will be getting some fresh assignments, on Monday.
I'll tell you what I told him, just before I left. I take comfort in very few things, lately, but one of those things I do take comfort in and know I can count on is that Dan Kildee always has my back.

(26,260 posts)My Mom's family and most of the in laws all grew up with the Kildee family. I always used to get a hug from Dale, when we met up at political shin digs. He is a lovely man.

(7,809 posts)though I didn't know him personally. There were more than 600 in my graduating class, so it's hard to know everybody.
It makes me happy when he is on TV. He's smart and I agree with what he says.

(26,260 posts)I saw him moved nearly to tears, listening to one of the veteran's story. His Dad was a Korean War Navy veteran and Dan takes veteran's issues very seriously.
He definitely works hard to take good care of his constituents. We are very lucky to have him representing us.
