Trump voters; This trait sealed their fate.

They suffer from the same trait cult followers suffer from.

They ignore or make excuses for truths that can be seen and proven, instead they follow a belief that cannot be seen or trusted.

Cult followers usually have very bad endings. Trump voters will have a very bad ending. Their fate is sealed.

I have talked to many Trump voters. They voted for Trump for many different reasons but they all had this trait in common. I'll give you one example.

A Trump voter told me he voted for Trump for moral reasons. Wow! This guy completely ignores the fact Trump is immoral as they come and instead believes he is moral because Trump told him he is pro-life. Even when I explained to him that Trump is on record saying he is pro-choice and is just saying he is pro-life for political reasons. It did not matter. I reminded him about all the lies, the lawsuits, what he did to people his entire life, It did not matter. He said, "I had to follow my heart".

If they stop believing in all the BS upon which their core belief system and lives are assembled it will cause them to shatter. It's too much for them to handle.

Remember during the campaign when Trump said to his supporters I will ban muslims. They cheered wildly. All critical thinking stopped. They did not process what Trump was really saying. What Trump was really saying was either, I do not understand the constitution or I am going to try to destroy the constitution.

It's the same with the press. They cheer Trump when he attacks the press, They do not understand how dangerous that is because they do not think it through. It sounds good to them.

Critical thinking gone on so many levels.

The press loves Trump because he bumped up their ratings.

I just re-read Orwell's 1984 Appendix detailing Newspeak. Highly recommend. These two words in particular sum up, as our beloved Ferret/Shower Cap puts it, "...as I keep saying, Russia figured out how to weaponize our most prominent natural resource: morons."

They just can’t admit they were taken in by tRump. Plus, they know if you dig into what he is saying, beneath everything, is a basic prejudice and distrust of others. tRump tapped into that but it really is ugly and damning. So they have to deny that and keep on talking about his “business skills” etc. All that can be refuted, but who is doing any real research into what kind of business man he REALLY is? Doesn’t he live in a gilt covered penthouse? Fly around in his own jet? Live the life of the rich and the famous? They bought all of that as a sign of his business deal making skills. If they had just done a little research, they’d have found that he lives on his reputation and the float. Lots of slight of hand, cheating, borrowed money (that he frequently does not repay.)

They are going to have to have their noses rubbed into the doo doo that is tRump and his legacy. When the things he advocates and puts in place start to hurt them personally, they might start to get it that they were duped. Until then, expect lots of excuses and flat out denial of what is as plain as the noses on their faces.

Trump received a lot of support from them in the GOP primaries and the general election.
https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/01/donald-trump-2016-authoritarian-213533

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-wing_authoritarianism

Right-wing authoritarianism (RWA) is a personality and ideological variable studied in political, social and personality psychology. Right-wing authoritarians are people who have a high degree of willingness to submit to authorities they perceive as established and legitimate, who adhere to societal conventions and norms and who are hostile and punitive in their attitudes towards people who do not adhere to them. They value uniformity and are in favour of using group authority, including coercion, to achieve it.

God, country and white culture... that's what matters to them. Trump received an overwhelming victory over Clinton among "white evangelicals" in the general election. They accounted for about 25% of all the voters according to the same exit polls. If they had not voted, Clinton would've easily won the "white vote" too.

I'm sure that Trump made gains every time that a BLM protest was shown in the news, for example.

Well, OK, not all. The oligarchs aren't fools, they know he's all in for them, but anyone else who voted for him is a total idiot.

Here's what they are actually getting -
Bringing jobs back - total con, not getting done, not even 1 job brought back
Build the wall - he couldn't care less, just wants the profits
Friends with Russia - nothing to see
Law and order - child molesters are just fine, ok for police to "rough up' protestors
Healthcare - raise prices dramatically on seniors and cut 30 million people off their healthcare
Ethics - are for other people and have no place in his regime
Make America great - making us weak snd isolated on the world stage, only likes autocrats, hates actual democracies.
Constitution - hates it, wants to get rid of freedom of the press and a free judiciary by stacking unqualified ignorant rw assholes as judges who will side with him no matter what. bet they all had to makes pledges of loyalty, including the biggest plant of all - gorsuch.
Cut taxes for middle class -HA! only for rich, middle class and poor will pay more to tons more

Completely and totally BRAINWASHED. They can't make any investigations about truth seeking because thatwould mean that they doubt what Faux news, Rush Limpballs and all the other nuts tell them every day, all day.
This is the same way they think about religion. Questioning their core beliefs mean they aren't true believers. As my FIL used to spit in my face with rage "that's why they call it faith"! Make no mistake- they may not believe from the first sniff test but they fall into place because if they ever stray away they can't come back.
Faux news has used their propaganda like religion and it shows.

Many of them are rednecks and/or bible beaters.

But the only way to explain those who are more educated and affluent is that they are racists. They may not go around spewing the "N" word, but their bigotry is a large part of their basic belief system.

It's who they are, who they've always been, and they're not going to change.

Cognitive dissonance at play here that conveniently shrouds the truth to fit a specific narrative for them and trump is very good (fake news, fake news, fake news) at playing to that narrative.
